In the mail today I got notice that my short story, "Prime the Pump," came in SECOND in a contest sponsored by the Colleyville Library and judged by the North Texas Professional Writers Association!

Got a certificate and a check.  I'm so excited!  Sure is a good confidence builder!
I also won two first place prized in the 2009 PST Annual Awards contests, plus several second, third and lesser placements.

AND after reading my book, a lady in Oklahoma bought 12 more copies to give to friends and family for Christmas.

OUT OF THE WRECKAGE: The Pop Stories  won the 2008  Readers Choice Award at AmazonClicks.

I've won or placed in a variety of writing contests calling for both stories and poems. Credits include ByLine Magazine, Writers Journal, Writer's Digest, Alfred Hitchcock Mystery Magazine, Kitchner's Sr. Poets Laureate, Poetry Society of Texas, and the NFSPS (National Foundation for State Poetry Societies.)

I've been published in
VampStampNews, ByLine, Writers Journal, Spaceports & Spidersilk, Beyond Centauri, Friend Magazine, Fate Magazine, PST Book of the Year, and in the PST Bulletin.

An article accepted by Fun For Kidz is contracted for 7/2011 publication.

Also, after submitting three short humorous pieces to RubberStampMadness, a national rubberstamping magazine, they offered me assignment work. My first article appeared in the Fall 2009 issue, and my second assignment appeared in their Holiday 2009/2010 issue. Two articles are in the Spring 2010 issue.

AUTHOR OF THE MONTH for WRITERS' GUILD OF TEXAS December 2008 and June 2009
 -----
As of June 23, 2009, Barbara learned she won 3rd Place in a NFSPS contest category; that poem will be published in the 2010 Encore.  She also received three Honorable Mentions over fierce competition.  The previous year she only received two citations, so-- ever onward and upward!
